There are three bills in the NM legislature for Green Jobs. These bills will help bring investment from the Federal government and will help build a clean energy economy for New Mexico. Click on the bills to learn more and please contact your legislator and ask them to vote in favor of these critical bills.
HB 622 - GREEN JOBS BONDING ACT - requests the Higher Education Department to develop a state plan to address the workforce needs of upcoming green industires. The plan shall include a structure for training programs in clean-technology industries at higher education institutions directed at target populations (low income individuals, veterans, workers affected by changing energy policy, at-risk youth, unemployed adults, single mothers, etc.).
SB 420 - SEVERANCE TAX INVESTMENT IN GREEN INDUSTRIES - would set aside $15 Million of the Severance Tax Permanent Fund for "New Mexico enterprises that provide jobs in green industries". This bill would be implemented by the Green Jobs Cabinet created by the executive order 2009-002. This bill is modeled after the successful film industry initiatives funded by the severance tax fund.
SB 318 - DEVELOPMENT TRAINING FUNDS FOR GREEN JOBS - would set aside $1 Million annually from the Job Training Incentive Fund (JTIP) for the development of training programs dedicated to green industries.
