New Energy Economy Staff Include:


FogartyJohn Fogarty is Executive Director of New Energy Economy. John is a physician trained in family medicine and public health, and has worked on energy and climate change issues for many years. He has worked with the Indian Health Service in Pueblo and Navajo communities since 1997 and has taught courses on human rights and health at the University of New Mexico. He also serves on the national Board of Directors for Physicians for Social Responsibility.

 

BoulangerLucy Boulanger is Chief Financial Officer for New Energy Economy.  Lucy is trained in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and epidemiology. She has worked with the Centers for Disease Control, the New Mexico Department of Health, and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service. Lucy has organized and led campaigns related to health, energy, and the environment in numerous New Mexican communities, and is a member of the Governor's Climate Change Advisory Group.

 

Joan Brown, OSFJoan Brown directs efforts with the faith community through her work in Ecology Ministry.  She is a Sister of the Rochester, Minnesota Franciscans, President of the Partnership for Earth Spirituality, serves on the Board of the National Catholic Rural Life Conference, she is Vice-President of New Mexico Interfaith Power and Light (NMIPL) and chairs the NMIPL's education committee.  Her work entails organizing, education, outreach, retreats and advocacy around water, climate change and sustainable living.  Joan is the co-founder of Tierra Madre, a sustainable and self-help strawbale community for people of low income in Sunland Park, New Mexico, and she received her Master's Degree from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

 

Mariel Bio PhotoMariel Nanasi is a civil rights and criminal defense lawyer. She is licensed to practice in both the state and federal courts in New Mexico and Illinois and the U.S. Supreme Court. Legal cases she has won and settled have been featured in the major media, including the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Albuquerque Journal, Santa Fe New Mexican, and on many television stations, including a documentary on PBS. Mariel serves on the Board of the Santa Fe Art Institute. Understanding the urgency of a changing climate and wanting to create a healthy and sustainable future for our children, Mariel has made a personal and professional commitment to climate leadership. She is currently the Senior Policy Advisor for New Energy Economy.


RondonAnna Marie Rondon is Dine (Navajo) Kinyanni (Towering House Clan) and born for Nakai Dine (Mexican Clan) and resides in Gallup New Mexico, but also has a ranch in Chichitah, NM.  Ms Rondon has 30 years of experience in community planning and community development, grant writing, social/environmental justice issues and ten years of volunteer work on Gulf War Veterans health concerns.  Her community planning/development are based on years of research and interviews with elders and the study of sustainable community development practices throughout the world.

Ryan Head
Ryan Shaening Pokrasso is the Program Director for NEE as of January, 2009. He was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He graduated from UC – Santa Cruz with a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology in 2007. Through his studies in California, and travels that followed, he developed a deep respect for the environment. Although he studied Biology in his undergraduate studies, he has found that the science on climate change is clear and that working to ensure bold leadership and enact policies to solve climate change is his calling.
